Health & Education

The German education system functions upon the rules and regulations of the Basic Law "Grundgesetz."

The German school system is divided into 5 levels:

  • Early Childhood Education

  • Primary Education

  • Secondary Education

  • Tertiary Education

  • Continuing Education

Germany's literacy rate from 1990-2020 has been a constant rate of 99.00%. This includes the people who are ages 15 and above who can read and write. Germany and the United States have the same literacy rate for both male and females as shown below.

In Germany, there is a need for more systematic global health education. In order to improve and sustain health locally and globally, an adequate clinical and non-clinical global health workforce and a well established global health education system is required.
